Theyre using lithium-ion batteries, many of them 40 volt, to supplement internal combustion engines as hybrids tend to do though this hybrid system will take on additional duties such as offsetting demands from the on board 12-volt battery through another motor/generator.
Theyll be making fuel economy improvements in the 15% to 20% range, and should be cost competitive with similar vehicles on the market. Could play a big part in hybrid sales picking up steam.
