Microcontroller vendor Microchip Technology Inc. is the company that has made a $3.8 billion unsolicited offer for Atmel Corp. , according to a Reuters report that referenced an unnamed source. Atmel has already agreed a deal to be acquired by Dialog Semiconductor plc but Atmel said it would look at the counter offer .
