(Telecompaper) Microsoft's new CEO, Satya Nadella, has confirmed a number of top executive appointments. Scott Guthrie was promoted to to Executive Vice President, Cloud and Enterprise, where he had already been serving in an interim capacity. Since joining Microsoft in 1997, he has worked on .NET and other technologies and most recently drove the growth at Microsoft Azure. Stephen Elop will join Microsoft as Executive Vice President, Microsoft Devices Group. The former Nokia CEO will take up the role once Microsoft completes its takeover of Nokia's handset business, now expected by the end of April. He will report directly to the CEO. Finally, Phil Spencer will take on a new role leading Xbox, combining the Xbox and Xbox Live development teams with the Microsoft Studios team. He will report to Terry Myerson, executive VP for operating systems, in order to focus on integrating gaming more with OS development. Nadella said this should help "bring more of the magic of Xbox to all form factors, including tablets, PCs and phones".
