Microwave Instrument System Engineer Deadline for submission to the Client 31082021 Client and Location The European Space Agency is ATGs biggest client. Job Description We are looking for a Microwave Instrument System Engineer on behalf of the European Space Agency ESA for their location in Noordwijk, The Netherlands, to join their Microwave Instrument Section. The duties of the Contractor are performed in liaison with a team of microwave instrument system engineers in the Future Missions and Instruments Division EOP8M for the preparation of future ESA Earth Observation missions, in particular for new Earth ExplorerEarth Watch missions, Copernicus Sentinels, operational meteorology missions, Missions of Opportunity, Fsats and Scout missions. Please note, the successful candidate will be employed by ATG Europe and not by ESA. The successful candidate will be tasked with, but not limited to Tasks and Responsibilities Developmentacquisition, validation and maintenance of performance assessment tools for various spaceborne microwave instruments encompassing both active radars and passive radiometers instruments Translation of missionobservation requirements to instrument requirements improvement and maintenance of data processing tools Performance Assessment of active and passive microwave instruments during the study phases 0, A, B1 Participation in the preparation and monitoring of instrument system and technology predevelopment studies together with industry. Requirements Masters degree or equivalent qualification in electrical engineering or physics with background in microwave engineering or electromagnetics theory and minimum 4 years of relevant work experience Demonstrated experience in the theoretical derivation and software implementation of instrument performance models A good endtoend instrument system understanding of microwave radar andor radiometers A good understanding of digital signal processing techniques General understanding of the modelling of wave interactions with the atmosphere and surface scattering Good familiarity with programming languages and computer programs such as Python, MatLAB, ADS, Excel, etc Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team within the boundaries of assigned tasks and a stringent schedule Proficient in the English language spoken and written.
