With 1.700 employees worldwide, the CS Group is a leading IT company in France and in Germany, and a prime contractor in designing, integrating and operating mission critical systems. It has now been over 30 years that comprehensive CS solutions for space systems and applications, both on the ground and in space, have been part and parcel of this odyssey. Our German activities grow at fast pace and to face our costumers high level expectations and needs, we are looking for talented profiles having relevant experience in Space systems and applications for the European Space Operation Centre in Darmstadt. TASKS Definition, assessment and feasibility studies for terrestrial and interplanetary missions. Support to approved projects until launch. For specific questions, support is also given during the operational phase of the mission and for endoflife disposition of space systems. The activities in address all those aspects of a mission which are related to the launch or the orbit of a satellite and to some extent also to the attitude of a satellite. A few typical tasks are the following Launcher requirements Analysis of launcher trajectory and launcher performance Tradeoffs for the selection of the operational orbit Launch window analysis Short and longterm orbit evolution Lifetime calculation Orbit manoeuvres and navigation Accuracy of orbit determination Parameter estimation Calculation of propellant budgets Lowthrust trajectory optimization Analysis of geometrical events groundstation visibility, eclipse, sky coverage Operations planning and scheduling Optimization of scientific return Endoflife disposition. In order to perform the required studies a considerable amount of sophisticated software is needed. A primary task is the computation of the various terrestrial and planetary satellite orbits low earth, geostationary, highly eccentric, interplanetary trajectories and planetary orbiters. Depending on the type of orbits and the required accuracy, various numerical and analytical methods are used. Various additional information is needed pertaining to the spacecraft or to the ground, such as visibility periods from the groundstations, eclipse times or coverage by imaging instruments. In order to rationalize the effort many similar calculations for terrestrial or planetary satellites or interplanetary probes are performed using standard systems developed by the group over many years. Examples of these systems are USOC the Unified System for Orbit Computation that allows in an interactive manner to set up programs tailored to specific tasks by selecting automatically the required modules. INTNAV Interplanetary Navigation is a system used for the analysis of navigation accuracy and requirements. Both USOC and INTNAV have a Graphical User Interface based in TclTk. LOTNAV Has the same purpose as INTNAV but when low thrust is used. DITAN Generation and optimisation of low thrust trajectories MANTRA High fidelity and flexible generation and optimisation of chemical propulsion and low thrust trajectories In HSOGFA numerous standalone programs are in use for the solution of various particular tasks, such as orbit determination, orbit control, orbital manoeuvres, optimization of rocket ascent trajectories, optimum acquisition of the operational orbit, optimization of mission performance, mission planning and reentry calculations. From the nature of tasks it is clear that the program system, as well as the individual programs, need rather frequently upgrading or modifications. Only in this way the particular requirements of a new mission can be satisfied. This flexibility has, of course, a strong impact on the program design and documentation. As new projects often require unconventional orbits andor very specific mission requirements, it is also necessary to introduce new analytical and numerical methods. Frequently new algorithms, solutions and auxiliary calculations are to be developed, either for a specific or general purpose. Such modules or programs can be incorporated in an easily accessible SW library. Design of proper interfaces, careful testing and the preparation of documentation is mandatory. PROFILE Competence is required in some or all of the following areas depending on the WP requirements Mathematical and stochastic methods and processes Classical and Celestial Mechanics Spacecraft Dynamics Applied Mathematics Relevant Space Environment modelling Relevant satellite systemspayload e.g. AOCS, star trackers, propulsion control Satellite Tracking techniques Software Engineering Orbit dynamics Orbit determination and prediction Operations support for flight dynamics Satellite tracking data processing techniques Detailed relevant technical background emphasis depending on work specifics The skills required for tasks related to operations shall be knowledgeable of the capabilities and limitations of the operational Software well trained in following the operational procedures for nominal and contingency scenario quick, high quality responses to situations arising during critical operations, including quasirealtime modifications of the operational software knowledgeable of the software as experts experienced in use of that software in operations are required available with a mix of different relevant experience in development and operations The underlying programming, verification and documentation activities will be performed by software engineers with a background on, based at ESOC The working language for the position is English and therefore the keyperson must be able to work effectively in this language. How to apply Please consider the following points before applying Please submit your complete application documents in English. An attached cover letter should mention your availability and salary expectations. Interested applicants should submit their CV to marina.ludwigcssystems.de with CC to francoisxavier.laffontcs.fr with the job title. Closing date 24 May 2015 Start date January 2016
