We require staff, wishing to join our team to work in a dynamic international environment for the following position Modelling and Simulation Engineer mf ENGSERVSYS201612 Tasks and Responsibilities The work will be performed at the European Space Research and Technology Centre ESTEC in Noordwijk, The Netherlands. The Modelling and Stimulation Engineer will be assigned to the System Modelling and Functional Verification section in the Software Systems Division. Systems, Software and InOrbit Demonstration Department. Directorate of Technical and Quality Management. The initial task will be performed for the Galileo Ground Mission Segment engineering Element Section, Ground Mission Segment Division, Ground Segment Department, Galileo Project Office. After appropriate familiarisation, the position will encompass the responsibility for the Operability Chain based on MUCF, MSF, GACF and VTP. Responsibilities and duties include in particular Ensuring the engineering, development, deployment, verification and validation of Galileo Operability Chain functions MUCF, MSF, VTP, GACF in the areas of monitoring control of Galileo assets, archiving, realtime and offline mission monitoring, mission uplink and control, mission support, training and maintenance. Ensuring the definition of interfaces and data formats for the data exchange of the Galileo Operability Chain Facilities. Assessment of the overall GMS operability and integrated logistic support ILS aspects of the GMS functions including the verification of the related operational procedures. Assessment of operational improvements provided by the GMS operators, coordination of discussion and agreement with GMS operators and GMS industrial partners as part of regular GMSOPS Working Group meetings and organization of MMI workshops. Supporting the definition of Galileo GMS IVQ Plan in the area of the Operability Chain Facilities ensuring followup and monitoring of Industry AIV activities and participation to formal verification activities Contribution to the preparation of ESA Procurement documents, evaluation of offers, negotiations and management of resulting contracts for all topics related to GMS Operability Chain elements. Contribution to all GMS Segment and System reviews and meetings for all topics related to GMS Operability Chain elements. Preparing, supporting and followup the procurements actions and industry contracts with regard to the implementation of the VTP. Supporting the engineering, development, deployment, verification and validation of VTP. Support to Operations related to operability and ILS aspects, eg. spares management, training organization, etc. Contribution to the GMS overall Engineering activities Requirements Engineering, Change Management and Baseline evolutions, Assessments of RFDRFWs, HWSW COTS, obsolescence management, etc. Support to the introduction of a new StateoftheArt hardware infrastructure virtualized platform, datacentric design, etc,. These tasks will be further developedmodified annually as necessary, as the Project develops. Qualifications and Experience A University degree MSc in in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent. Practical experience of working in ground Segment and system verification. Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team within the boundaries of assigned tasks and a stringent schedule. Extensive understanding of Galileo Operations. Good understanding of Ground Segment engineering, in particular for functional chains. Experience in Ground Segment Integration and verification. Furthermore we are looking for candidates With excellent command of English, both written and spoken Willing to travel to the operational centres premises frequently and to act as onsite support where appropriate during the facilities test campaigns.
