Myer's new chief executive Richard Umbers says he will "bring the love of shopping to life" in the group's department stores. He also says shareholder returns are paramount: recreating the love of shopping is a means to an end, in other words, and Myer's long history of failed makeovers shows it isn't going to be easy.
