(Telecompaper) Dutch broadcasting subscription portal NLziet officially launched on 12 June and will be rolled out in phases, NPO's Jeroen Kramer announced during the Telecompaper Connected 2014 event in Laren. The joint service, launched by NPO, RTL and SBS, will cover on-demand platforms NPO Plus, RTL XL and Kijk. Users will be able to watch films and series for up to a year after broadcast, with no advertising, and some shows will be available for preview before broadcast. Kramer said NLziet was set up in response to viewers wishing to decide themselves what to see, when and from which device. The three VoD services will be available for a subscription fee. Some shows can be seen up to seven days before broadcast. The different broadcasters have a common landing page for NLZiet but will each handle their own platform. Users can log in and search through the three VoD platforms. NLziet can be accessed via tablet, smartphone, PC, and the television set. According to a Telecompaper Consumer Panel report conducted in April, 6 percent of the Dutch said they would to subscribe to Nlziet. Another 17 percent said they would maybe subscribe.
