"Estimating Renewable Energy Economic Potential in the United States: Methodology and Initial Results" describes geospatial analysis method used to estimate economic potential of several renewable resources. Looking at potential at developable sites, study finds renewable generation economically viable in many parts of USA. At 2014 costs, technologies combine for 820 terawatt-hours of estimated economic potential beyond generation from renewable energy facilities already in operation.
