O3b Networks is a Global Satellite Service Provider deploying a next generation satellite network. This network will enable our customers in emerging markets to extend their range and reach of service through fast, flexible and affordable connectivity. We are now looking to hire a Network Engineer for our Ground Engineering team. Employment Type FullTime Regular Required Experience 5 years experience in network security engineering or operations Required Education BS degree in Engineering or Computer Science Department Name Ground Reporting To Director Network Services Working Location Manassas, VA Travel Required Yes, up to 20 of the time Relocation provided No Role Description The network engineer provides implementation and daytoday support for our IP Network. The engineer will work to ensure our network is secure, available and optimized, which will enable our cutting edge satellite constellation to provide fibrelike speed with global reach. Responsibilities Assist in the deployment and management required to establish a global service provider network Perform design validation and optimization of network infrastructure Handle daytoday network related tickets Act as 3rd tier support for the escalation of issues from the Network Operations Center Configuration of multiple models and vendors of switchesrouters, including VLAN configuration, routing protocols, etc. Performing audit and asset management of network and telecommunication equipment Work with the team to improve network visibility and performance management Generate and maintain appropriate documentation for internal and external consumption on all aspects of the network infrastructure Troubleshoot critical performance and stability issues in a timely fashion Validate customer complex configurations Requirements Minimum of 5 years experience in network security engineering or operations BS degree in Engineering or Computer Science Juniper or Cisco certifications and experience required e.g. JNCIS JNCIP CCNP CCIP Demonstrated experience with VPN technologies SSLVPN IPSEC Experience with identification and tracking techniques for offending IP addresses using traceroute, whois, and other internet tools Experience in supporting highly available systems Experience with Unix Linux systems administration and creation shell scripts to automate tasks Network analysis and management experience using Wireshark, Tcpdump, Netflow Experience with vendor element management systems Cisco Works, Junos Space Experience with physical design best practices, e.g., rack installation, cabling and management Experience in a startup environment and proven track record of working on complex projects Highly technical across a broad range of computing platforms and network protocols Protocol knowledge not limited to BGP, OSPF, MPLS Familiarity with firewall design and commonly used ports and protocols Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal, in English Demonstrated performance as a reliable team player Ability to effectively adapt to rapidly changing requirements and objectives and come up with practical ideas for dealing with them Must be a motivated selfstarter Handson, can do attitude Sense of urgency, and the ability to make decisions and take responsibility for them What we Offer A unique, interesting, and challenging job in an entrepreneurial organization along with a globally competitive salary benefits package.
