Newton County officials are mulling significant changes to the scope and size of the countys landfill, potentially relieving the county of millions of dollars in liability, ending a years-long lawsuit in which the state Supreme Court three times ruled against Newton County, and even bringing in a revenue stream that could help fund community improvements for residents who live near what would be an approximately 900-acre site.
