(Telecompaper) Nokia has announced a new Partner Business Unit, aimed at extending its portfolio with partner products and boosting its sales channels. The company said it will add partner products and services alongside its portfolio in order to offer a more complete range of solutions to customers. Partner products will be certified to work with Nokia equipment. In addition to selling partner products alongside its own, Nokia wants to embed some partner components in its own portfolio. The company said this will add innovation in specialist areas without having to develop an in-house alternative. To support the integration with partners, Nokia will make public some of its own APIs. For example, its Liquid Applications platform, which puts an IT server inside the base station, is open to run third-party applications. Finally, the company announced its sales partner programme. This will allow partners to include Nokia products in their own portfolios and address markets where Nokia is otherwise not active.
