2013-08-27 08:44:00| Telecompaper Headlines
(Telecompaper) Nokia is preparing to launch a 10.1-inch tablet based on Windows RT, the Verge reported citing sources familiar with Nokia's plans. Codenamed Sirius, the tablet will have a similar design to Nokia's Lumia Windows phones and will be launched shortly. Nokia's tablet is thought to be thinner and lighter than the current iPad, with a colored body, 6-megapixel back camera and 2-megapixel front camera. The 10.1-inch display will run at 1920x1080 resolution, and the tablet will feature Qualcomm's quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor and 2GB of RAM. Other features include a microSD port to extend the 32GB of storage, a micro HDMI connector and a micro USB port. Nokia is also planning to ship a keyboard accessory with the tablet that includes a battery for additional charging. The device will be priced comparatively with Apple's iPad, and the company won't try to undercut pricing initially, the report said. Nokia is expected to unveil the tablet at a launch event in New York scheduled for 26 September.
