Oil companies doled out big donations in climate bill fight

2016-02-02 07:52:16| Energy - Topix.net

Oil companies that convinced California lawmakers last year to abandon part of a landmark bill to fight climate change donated more than $250,000 to their campaigns for re-election in the second half of 2015 -- with more money going to Democrats than Republicans. Since the state Senate bars its members from accepting campaign checks in the final weeks of the legislative session, a large share of the money went to lawmakers in the state Assembly, with five assemblymembers receiving more than $10,000 each from Chevron, Exxon and Tesoro, campaign finance statements show.
