Oil refining gains drive CHS 1Q earnings

CHS Inc. said Wednesday its net earnings rose 56 percent to $379 million in the first quarter, thanks mostly to greater profits in its oil refining business. Despite falling crude oil prices that have scrambled the oil patch, Inver Grove Heights-based CHS noted that refining margins have increased from a year ago at its two refineries.
