This vacancy note concerns an onsite consulting position at ESTEC in Noordwijk in The Netherlands. OptoElectronics Engineer SI1711076 Job Description We are looking for an OptoElectronics Engineer to support our client ESTEC, in Noordwijk, The Netherlands. You will be part of a team working to support the Sentinel4 and upcoming Sentinel7 Carbonsattype mission, Sentinel8 Thermal IR mission and Sentinel10 Hyperspectral mission Phase AB1 studies planned parallel studies in each case. You will contribute to the running of detector technology development activities for the Large Format SWIR detector and a number of detector predevelopment activities. You will also support technology developments in the field of quantum key distribution. As part of the above, you will be working on Assist in the establishment of requirements and configurations for payload equipment and subsystems involving Solid state lasers Fibreoptic components Detectors and focal plane instrumentation Quantumelectronic devices and systems, including optical atomic clocks Superconducting devices and sensors Review and evaluation of technical documentation and design dossiers Perform analysis and elaborate outline design and configurations Assist, where appropriate, external and internal testing, verification and evaluation of optoelectronic systems and components, including ground and airborne measurement campaigns. Contribute to the definition, maintenance and use of design, engineering and verification software tools for photonic systems and components. Assist in the calibration of the optical test setup to allow quantitative laser damage tests. Operate the Laser Induced Damage test setup during test sequences. Prepare test samples. Assist in the analysis and interpretation of the test data. This position is initially for one year with the possibility to extend it. Required Skills and Experience University degree in Photonics or Optics, preferably at PhD level, with background in detector and quantum technologies. Minimum of 4 years experience in a relevant position. Experience in the design, development and testing of optoelectronic systems and components. Good system experience in the use and application of fibreoptic components and sensors in spacecraft engineering. Experience with highpower pulsed laser systems, complex optical setups and vacuum systems.
