(Telecompaper) Orange and Huawei have signed an agreement to increase their collaboration to invent and build high efficiency telecom networks by 2020. Orange aims to reduce its CO2 emissions per customer usage by 50 percent by 2020. The companies have been working together on improving energy efficiency since 2013. The new agreement will see Orange and Huawei focus, further develop and test more energy efficient solutions in the field. Areas to be covered include the design of a new network architecture enabled by fibre optics, the use of new components and signal processing algorithms to improve mobile network power amplifiers, and the virtualisation of network functions.
