Researchers have documented that the habitat for Joshua trees is shrinking. Cameron Barrows, an associate research ecologist with the UCR Center for Conservation Biology in Palm Desert, found Joshua trees havent produced young trees in 30 percent of their southern distribution for decades. Climate models suggest the range of Joshua trees could shrink 90 percent by the end of the century.
It might not be because of climate change alone....
