PG&E profits soared in the third quarter, primarily due to increased revenue from rate increase and lower charges related to the company's work on its natural gas-pipeline system in the wake of a fatal explosion in San Bruno, the utility reported Tuesday. The company earned $814 million on revenue of $4.94 billion in the July-September quarter.
