The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality advises beachgoers to stay out of the water off Waveland beach between Oak and Favre streets, Its Beach Monitoring Program, which uses water sampling by Gulf Coast Research Laboratory, has found evidence of high bacteria levels in the water there.
