Payload Instruments Engineer MF PIESERV201609ESTEC004 The successful candidate will join the Columbus Operations Division. The position is located at the European Space Research and Technology Centre ESTEC in Noordwijk, The Netherlands. Tasks and Responsibilities Responsibilities and duties include in particular Coordinate the engineering integration and logistics for PLs payloads and experiments and support Columbus operations and engineering feasibility assessments. Oversee engineering integration of PLs. Oversee coordination between ESA and NASA or other International Partners for Thermal Control System TCS Environmental Control Sub System ECLSS and PLs jointly operated. Support the increment integration activities and participate and represent ESA engineering and logistics as required on the increment integration and PL mission readiness meetings Participate in the Engineering Control Board ECB process representing ESA as required. Review and assess Experiment Science Requirements ESRs for engineering integration and maintenance aspects. Implement the Columbus systems and PLs Engineering Operations and Maintenance Services and any interagency agreements for sustaining engineering of jointly operated facilities. Coordinate and interact with other service providers in operations and other fields, like Columbus and PLs enhancement and procurement division. Manage the transfer and integration of the new infrastructure elements including the Engineering Data Base from the developers to the exploitation documentation database. Support the execution of PL operations in International Space Station ISS increments. Manage and coordinate with the Product Assurance the Materials Review Board MRB process as needed to support the resolution and recovery of failures inputs and summaries. Support troubleshooting of onboard system or PL issues including MRB participation. Support the implementation of ESA operations support contracts. Contribute to the Performance Reviews of the Industrial Operator Team IOT. Interact with industrial operations engineering teams to manage the respective engineering work packages. Interface with the industrial System or PL Engineering Managers as required for the implementation of engineering and maintenance function including monitoring of the industrial activities required for the repair and upgrades of the hardware. Contribute to the contractual transition for projects that have completed the development phase. Coordinate periodical expert centre meetings and teleconferences to control activities and services Participate in the establishment of strategy and policy for longterm operations and maintenance for the ESA PL flight systems. Evaluate and implement spare procurement and change requests. Participate in the Design and Acceptance Review Process of the assigned European ISS elements, enhancements and experiments. Provide operations engineering supportexpertise to projects in the CD phase, with the goal to establish the operations engineering and maintenance concepts. Qualifications and Experience The applicants should have A Masters degree in a relevant discipline Engineering, Computer Sciences, or Physics. Several years of experience on the design and verification of operations related systems and products for the ISS programme.
