Portland's solid population growth, among the best in the West, helps fuel real estate market

Portland's population growth has outpaced almost every coastal market in the country since 2000, a factor that's playing a big role in the region's real estate recovery. According to research from JLL and the U.S. Census Bureau, Portland's population went from 529,121 in 2000 to 594,687 in 2013, an increase of just over 12 percent.
