Power Line Fire Causes Power Outage for Hundreds of Cedar Rapids Residents

Cedar Rapids Police say a power pole on the southwest side of Cedar Rapids gave way early Sunday morning causing a chain-reaction of events, including a fire. Police officers as well as Alliant Energy crews rushed to the intersection of 15th Avenue and J Street Southwest about 12:15 a.m. Police say after a power pole fell to the ground, a power line snapped causing a fire to ignite.
