Powerful winds knock out power for thousands in SoCal

High winds and heavy rain caused power outages affecting tens of thousands of Los Angeles Department of Water and Power and Southern California Edison customers in Southern California, the utilities said today. Power was out for more than 56,000 of its customers at one time, but by 9:30 p.m. Sunday power had been restored to all but 21,000, the LADWP reported.
