Praxair profit, sales falls short of expectations

Industrial-gas company Praxair Inc. said its earnings dropped as weak macroeconomic conditions, especially in Europe, and the strong dollar pressured fourth-quarter results. Both sales and revenue missed expectations, leading the Connecticut-based company to post a disappointing outlook for the year.
