JOB SUMMARY The Project Manager serves as a focal point for a number of projects relating to internal business processes or approaches. Responsibilities include project planning, execution, timing, resource planning, and risk and cost management. Uses expertise to motivate project team, ensuring project deliverables and schedules are met. Typical duties may include formulating and managing project plans facilitating compliance to relevant processes and policies andor regulations recognizing and resolving conflict within the project team identifying and resolving project related issues and barriers to success ensuring all stakeholders are provided with timely and accurate project information and status updates facilitating project meetings, etc. BASIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Has full autonomy to independently deliver on assigned tasks. Business Development Responsibilities Maintains knowledge of current and emerging trends in the industry, including all relevant areas of spaceflight systems requirements that might be incorporated as new technologies into future systems. Collaborates with management, business development and other departments to determine competitiveness of new technologies and to develop new products. Identifies and collaborates with third party partners to fulfill technology gaps. Negotiates and oversees third party arrangements with consulting companies and vendors. Supports technical questions and followup during sales process. Responds to Request for Proposals and technical questionnaires from potential customers. Management and Supervisory Responsibilities Provides leadership to a group or one or more project teams. Develops project plans, budgets and schedules. Maintains overall responsibility for delivery to plans, budgets and schedules while ensuring quality standards and customer satisfaction criteria are met. Ensures profitability targets are achieved. Determines what resources are necessary to carry out development projects. Participates in the hiring of the development staff. Develops appropriate performance objectives and conduct annual performance reviews. Assist designated team leads in overall product development process and provide mentoring for all levels of team members. Assists designated team leads in meeting deliverables. Attends product design meetings and assist in the planning and decision making process. Attends product architecture meetings and assist in the planning and decision making process and final resolution. Review and investigate root cause of high priority problem issues implement processes to reduce the risk of similar issues in the future. Decisions are made within the general parameters provided by the next level of management. May participate as a member of a management team to coordinate the efforts of their directorate. KNOWLEGDE, SKILLS and ABILITIES BSc in Engineering or equivalent Excellent general management, leadership, and project management skills. Excellent communication skills as it relates to disseminating and gathering information to staff and management and marketing to prospective clients or business partners. Flexibility in terms of dealing with changing priorities and dealing with multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to understand technical issues and understand impact on projects, and effectively communicate these issues and impact to direct reports as well as other project stakeholders. Expertise in all aspects of the development life cycle. Demonstrated fiscal responsibility and accountability.
