Project Manager Systems Engineer Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, Didcot 37,534 per annum Full Time, open ended About Us The Science and Technology Facilities Council is a worldleading multidisciplinary science organisation, and our goal is to deliver economic, societal, scientific and international benefits to the UK and its people and more broadly to the world. About the role The RAL Space Department at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory develops space instruments and groundbased astronomy instruments for agencies including ESA, NASA and ESO. The Project Management Systems Engineering Group of the Space Engineering and Technology Division currently has a growing number of ongoing and new projects which require Project Management and Systems Engineering support. This portfolio of projects covers a wide range of applications Spacecraft Instrumentation, Space Physics, Earth Observation and Calibration Sources. The position will give the successful candidate opportunity to work on Space hardware projects at all stages of implementation from the proposal stage right through to inflight commissioning and calibration. Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to Management of projects andor significant work packages Reporting to Customers on all aspects your projects Systems Engineering input to existing and future projects Detailed project work in planning, executing and reporting of hardware tests Preparation of proposals for future lines of work Reporting of project finance and schedule to RAL Spaces senior management team About you To join us you will have an Undergraduate degree in Engineering or Physics as well as aerospace project management experience, including a proven ability to manage programmes within strict financial and schedule constraints. Expertise in at least one space related engineering discipline is essential, as is previous experience of proposal writing and making recommendations to collaborators and subject matter experts. You will have a proven ability in stimulating and nurturing collaborations with academic and industrial partners. The ideal candidate will need to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies and possess a high level of selfmotivation.
