Proximus to stop zero rating on the back of stricter rules expected from EU

2018-01-19 20:54:00| Telecompaper Headlines

(Telecompaper) Proximus started a pilot with zero rating three years ago, testing sponsored mobile data, where it does not charge for data used with certain apps. About 50,000 private customers were allowed to make unlimited use of apps such as Facebook, Messenger, Waze and NMBS, news sites and from banks without data charges. With the pilot project, the operator wanted to investigate whether sponsored mobile internet use encourages customers to install more apps and so surf more.
