Most public retailers plan to hire more service techs, add service hours and improve service centers this year to increase customer-pay business and meet the demands of warranty repairs. In discussing their second-quarter results in July, one publicly traded dealership group after another laid out plans to expand what are, across the board, the most profitable operations at their stores.
