Airbus Defence and Space is a division of Airbus Group formed by combining the business activities of Cassidian, Astrium and Airbus Military. It employs some 40,000 employees generating revenues of approximately 14 billion per year. A vacancy for an AIT Quality Assurance Engineer has arisen within Airbus Defence Space in Portsmouth. You will lead and assure manufacturing excellence in Payload AIT You will perform Quality Assurance QA activities, by ensuring correct implementation of procedures and processes, to ensure product quality meets the stated requirements You will promote and lead good practice and improvements in Payload Mechanical Assembly processes You will manage completion of corrective actions to closure You will provide assurance and confirmation that Payload is ready for test You will provide assurance and confirmation that Payload is ready for delivery. The successful candidate will be subject to UK National Security Clearance in order to undertake related work in accordance with business needs. Your main tasks and responsibilities will include Production of Quality Surveillance Plans Quality assurance throughout Assembly, Integration and Test manufacturing lifecycle in Portsmouth Quality assurance of MGSE and EGSE used during mechanical assembly activities Quality Assurance Inputs to Payload Project gate reviews ARR, TRR DRB Payload Occurrence and NonConformance management to Closure 1 level Management of Closure 2 corrective actions Measurement and analysis of Nonquality events in AIT to aid and direct continuous process improvement Work Rework Instruction approval Process audits on Payload activities Supervision of Payload Critical moves Safety Reviews FMEA Risk Reviews Quality Assurance Inputs to Payload Structures Handover meetings Quality Assurance Inputs to Payload Handover Payload Key Inspection Point activities Quality Assurance postdelivery support Management of Quality Improvement initiatives Promote quality awareness throughout AIT organisation by coaching Produce concise management reports, presentations, minutes and actions, generally using Microsoft Office tools. Flexibility to travel within the UK and Europe when required Willingness to work on shift, oncall or offsite for short periods when required. We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience Strong background in Quality Assurance or Product Assurance within a complex Manufacturing environment Proven capability to design and deliver quality initiatives at all levels Experience with analysis and a methodical approach to problem solving in an engineering environment Good communicator, able to lead and influence at all levels from the clean room up to senior management, internally and externally Good team worker with strong interpersonal and persuasive skills User and promoter of quality tools and methods, particularly risk management and metrics Knowledge of Space Quality standards.
