When hot-plugged, Model SN65HVD888 quickly provides cross-wire immunity, detecting and correcting bus polarity within 76 ms of bus idling. Half-duplex unit provides ±12 kV IEC61000-4-2 contact discharge protection and +4 kV IEC61000-4-4 fast transient burst protection. Available in 8-pin SOIC package, device supports up to 256 nodes on bus, eliminating need for repeaters. Applications include e-metering networks, DMX512 networks, industrial automation, and HVAC systems.
