Louisville-based Brown-Forman, owner of Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whiskey, helped the Tennessee General Assembly create a 2013 law that defined specific parameters of what can be labeled as Tennessee whiskey. Rival distiller Diageo has contested the definition, saying it hinders innovation.
