Riverbend Landfill: As someone who has been battling Oregon's Department of Environmental Quality for more than eight years over air and water pollution in Yamhill County, I was shocked but not surprised that DEQ has so miserably failed to protect the people of Portland from air contamination. Portland's deteriorating air quality has been news for years, with benzene a principal offender.
