S&P 500 ends with slight loss on oil, Europe woes

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 12.53 points to 16,817.94. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 2.22 points to 4,485.93 and the Standard & Poor's 500 index slipped 2.95 points to 1,961.63.
