Package description Full details on application Main responsibilities The activity is intended to support the ESA PDGS Project Manager and the Data Quality and Algorithms Management technical officer for the implementation of the Payload Data Ground Segments for the SAOCOM Companion Satellite and the Biomass missions. It addresses all aspects related to Level1 Instrument Processing, Calibration, Data Quality Control and Instruments Monitoring. Main tasks Documentation Baseline Preparation and industrial procurement followup o Definition of products Quality Control and Instruments Monitoring baselines o Support for processing algorithms definition and review o Support for calibration strategy and algorithms definition and review o Support to the definition of the utilisation of data from the space segment level testing and to the definition of space to ground interface tests for the processors o Support to products format definition o Participation to the SAOCOMCS and Biomass Mission Advisory Groups o Adhoc development of tools for the accomplishment of the PDGS subsystems engineering, testing and validation, etc. Coordination of PDGS subsystems reviews Support the acceptance by the PDGS Project of PDGS external CFIs Review of documentation from various sources ESA, Industry during the project phases dealing with subsystems implementation and testing. Participation to Ground Segment Reviews and PDGS reviews organised either by ESA or by Industry Management of the review item discrepancies, system or software problem reports and action linked to PDGS SubSystems implementation contracts Support to the PDGS Integration and Validation and Ground Segment. It includes o Integration of the facility within the processing centre o Definition of integration and validation tests o Run of integration and validation tests procedures o Test results analysis and reporting o Support for operators training and preparation of operational documentation for the relevant PDGS subsystems Support the Commissioning Phase Ideal candidate Mandatory requirements University degree or equivalent qualification, in physics or aerospace engineering preferably applied to Remote Sensing and Earth Observation Ph.D. or 4 years of working experience in the SAR domain with experience of calibration or SAR processing Good understanding of and background in geophysical sciences andor specific instruments relevant to the considered mission Proven experience in SAR polarimetry or tomography Programming skills e.g. MatLab, IDL, python, GIS, etc. Being recognised as Categorie Protette L 6899 Legally potected category Important Any offer of employment is contingent upon you providing documents to verify your identity and employment eligibility, as required by law.
