(Telecompaper) South Korean telecommunications operator SK Telecom and Ericsson have signed a MOU for joint research for 5G technology in Stockholm. SK Telecom and Ericsson selected technologies considered essential for evolution to 5G, including next generation small cell, ultra-wideband, low latency technology that could be used for remote driving, FDD/TDD convergence technology, gigabyte-level data transmission technology etc. SK Telecom and Ericson have also agreed to continue to work together if there are additional technologies found necessary for the next generation network. On 2 July, SK Telecom and Ericson have demonstrated 5Gbps, a LTE-based network speed in the 15GHz bandwidth.
