Samsung Tizen Z1 smartphone goes on sale in India

(Telecompaper) Samsung has launched its first smartphone running the Tizen operating system. The earlier announced Samsung Z1 is now available in India for INR 5,700 in a choice of white, black or red. The operators Reliance Communications and Aircel are offering up to 500MB of 3G data free every month over six months for customers buying the phone. Built on the lightweight Tizen platform, the Samsung Z1 promises a faster boot time and quick access to apps, along with enhanced web performance to offer users faster page loading times with decreased data usage. The smartphone is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 768 MB RAM and 4GB internal memory, expandable up to 64GB with a microSD card. The device features dual SIM support, a 4-inch WVGA PLS screen, 3.1 megapixel rear camera and VGA front camera with auto face detect. It also comes with anti-virus protection, a SOS alert and a 'private mode' to protect personal data. Samsung will launch a free entertainment package called Joy Box with the phone, giving users access to music, TV and movies.
