2016-06-16 08:39:00| Telecompaper Headlines

(Telecompaper) Samsung has announced an agreement to acquire Joyent, a US-based public and private cloud provider founded in 2004, for an undisclosed amount. In a statement, Samsung said the deal will give it access to its own cloud platform capable of supporting its range of mobile, Internet of Things and cloud-based software and services. Joyent will join Samsung's mobile communications business while continuing to operate as a standalone company and continuing to provide cloud infrastructure and software services to its customers. Leading Joyent executives including CEO Scott Hammond, CTO Bryan Cantrill and VP of Product Bill Fine will work on Samsung's company-wide cloud initiatives.
