(Telecompaper) Samsung Electronics has canceled the planned launch of its first Tizen smartphone at a developers event in Moscow. Samsung was expected to present the phone, scheduled to launch first in Russia in Q3, to developers on 10 July. However, the launch was canceled just days earlier, the Wall Street Journal reports. Samsung provided no date for the commercial launch at the developer summit, but said in a statement that "the smartphone will appear on the Russian market later, when we can offer our users a fullest portfolio of applications". The Moscow event for developers went ahead with prototypes of the device.
