Sanderson Farms profit misses view, but sales beat

Sanderson Farms Inc. said Tuesday that higher prices for chicken and lower prices for the ingredients in chicken feed led to higher-than-expected revenue in its fiscal first quarter. During the January quarter, prices for whole chickens rose 9.2% from a year earlier, while the average price for boneless breast meat increased 6.6%.
