Tieback tester Israel Hoagland tests a tieback on a retaining wall at the construction site that will house a 230,000-square-­foot office tower at Santana Row in San Jose, Calif., on Friday, April 3, 2015. The hole at the construction site, said to be the largest hole ever dug in San Jose, is four stories deep and a block long.
