Santos is right to reject $7b bottom-fishing takeover offer

Santos was right to tell Scepter that its $7 billion bid was too low, but also right to leave the negotiating door open. If shareholders don't force a capitulation, Santos should be able to continue assessing asset-sale options while leaving the door ajar for Scepter's return.
