Scientists will use cosmic rays to peer inside Fukushima reactor

Muons created in the upper atmosphere will let researchers from Los Alamos National Labs see the state of the heavily shielded core of the damaged and dangerous Fukushima reactor. The researchers are using cosmic rays to create what is essentially an X-ray of the core's damage.
