Senior Engineer, Launch Spacecraft Systems MF Ref SES0470 Region Europe Location France Toulouse Company SES Category Space Engineering Position Staff Context The Resident Launch Systems and Spacecraft Programs Engineer is responsible for managing one or more spacecraft launch programs from inception through launch activities and spacecraft separation and, in addition, to support resident field office activities for spacecraft procurement as part of the resident spacecraft team. Geographical mobility is required. Responsibilities For Launch System Duties Ensure the successful integration and compatibility of satellite and launch system Maximize the spacecraft lifetime via launcher performance Identify and resolve issues that develop during the launch vehicle mission analysis, assembly, integration and test phase Coordinate, convene and follow up the technical design and management meetings between launch vehicle manufacturer, satellite manufacturer and SES Coordinate interaction during launch vehicle manufacturer, satellite manufacturer and SES during AIT mechanical testing, fitcheck and launch campaign Ensure a proper flow of internal communication between different SES departments, and make sure that the necessary actions are followed up For Spacecraft Duties Ensure delivery of spacecraft compliant to contractual specifications and delivery schedule Provides daily oversight of Design, Assembly, Integration, Test, and Launch phases Provides oversight of activities at Manufacturer and Subcontractor facilities as needed Performs in process inspections with manufacturers Participates in design, manufacturing, test readiness completion, material and failure reviews Reviews design, manufacturing and test documentation Provides summary reports of issues and recommended actions Provides 247 on call support during single line flow For Both Provide summary reports of issues and recommended actions Travel as required, including for full launch campaign duration Experience Qualifications Masters Degree in Engineering 3 to 5 years experience in the space industry, preferably in launch systems Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of launch vehicle systems, assembly, integration test, cost and schedule trades and program management Extensive experience with launch vehicles and launch operations Excellent writing and reporting skills Effective communication skills with people at all levels of the organization Good interpersonal and relationship management skills Experience working day to day issues with manufacturers and program teams Fluency in English, any other language being an asset Our Offer Competitive salary package, coupled with a diverse array of challenges and development benefits.
