A vacancy has arisen for a Senior IT Security Engineer with Astrium in Stevenage. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day to day operation of all UK based networks, which is primarily selfdriven through the use of our internal Help Desk system. In addition, you will provide lead engineering support to all national and international network projects as directed by the Team Leader or UK Manager. The successful candidate will be subject to security clearance in order to undertake related work in accordance with business needs. The key responsibilities of the role are as follows Install software, configures and upgrades ICT systems Administer daytoday operations to satisfy continuity of service, recovery, security and performance needs Investigate, diagnose and solve system related problems Install and upgrades software Schedule installation work, liaising with all concerned to ensure that installation priorities are met and disruption to the organization is minimized. Diagnose and solve problems and faults occurring in the operation of hardware and software Comply with organization procedures to ensure integrity of the system Mentoring and supervising of junior and less experienced engineers Make technical recommendations to the UK Manager The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and experience Extensive handson commercial experience using Cisco networking equipment, along with demonstrable work experience Qualified or demonstrable experience up to CCNP Security level Good IP routing, switching and design skills including LANLAN VPN or LANWAN TCPIP technologies Professional Cisco or Juniper qualification is preferred There will be exposure to large scale interlinked Cisco IP networks and air locked firewall infrastructures, so experience at this level is essential Excellent network analysistroubleshooting skills throughout the OSI layer model leading to the ability to handle level 3 escalations and supervise engineering teams Listening and documentation skills Ability to handle pressured situations and be able to communicate well at all levels. Familiar with all aspects of network infrastructure services such as DNS, Proxy, IPS and Accelerators A good understanding and an ability to perform ethical hacking, supported by a recognised qualification An interest or understanding of Satellites, Space Exploration and Space Transportation would be advantageous Occasional travel within the UK and abroad is required.
