Used to detect and preempt short circuits, lithium-ion battery safety sensor system provides early warning of developing hazardous conditions inside lithium-ion cell. Technology employs sensors in combination with proprietary signal processing algorithms and works for any lithium-ion battery chemistry. In lithium-ion cell packs, system is effective over range of temperatures as well as in automotive duty cycles and does not require changes in cell design.
