Currently, we are looking for a highly skilled Sentinel Optical Mission Scientist who will work for ESTEC, in the Netherlands. SPECIFIC TASKS Collection and documentation of user needs for terrestrial optical missions Definition, documentation and management of mission requirements for terrestrial optical Earth observation missions Support to organisation and running of Mission Advisory and ad hoc Expert Group activities Provide scientific support to the mission Study and Project teams during the preparatory, implementation and commissioning phases Assessment of mission performance in relation to observation requirements Support for the definition of ground segment requirements and Level 1 and Level 2 products Support to prototyping and development of scientific retrieval algorithms for geophysical parameters Support and monitor the development of missionspecific performance simulators Support for campaigns and calibrationvalidation planning and activities REQUIREMENTS PhD and a minimum of four years of scientific experience in terrestrial optical or hyperspectral Earth observation remote sensing Ability to work both autonomously and part of a team, with good organisation, planning, management and communication skills Knowledge of remote sensing principles, retrieval techniques, error assessment, data assimilation principles Familiarity with the Copernicus Space Component Programme and related Land Monitoring Service needs Proficient in the English language spoken and written Deadline 28012021 Please note that interviews canwill be held via skype, webex or other digital platforms.
