A vacancy has arisen for a Simulations Engineer with Astrium in Stevenage. We are looking for an experienced simulations engineer with excellent technical skills in C Java and experience in the domains of modelling to join our project team as a key technical member for the development of satellite simulators and hardware in the loop test benches. As an experienced engineer you will be technically responsible for the design and the development and integration of specific parts of the simulator as well as for the technical follow of the external subcontractor involved in the development of some of the models. You will interface closely with other engineering teams during the lifecycle of the project and work closely, at technical level, with the external subcontractor to ensure the successful development of the benches. The main technical activities include requirements analysis, software design implementation, technical follow up of external subcontractors, system integration, testing and delivery of the benches. The software will be coded in CC, with Java as the test language, running on Linux OS. The key responsibilities of the role are as follows The Satellite Functional Verification Infrastructure FVI, Engineering Tools Control Ground Segment division is responsible for the development of satellite simulators and hardwarein theloop test benches that are used in the Development and validation of the satellite flight software Validation of the functional chains and HWSW interfaces of satellite equipments and the satellite itself. The division consists of departments in the UK, France and Germany. You should be able to travel within Europe. This role reports to the FVI Manager and the Department Manager. Primary Responsibilities ModellingSoftware requirements engineering, Software design and architecture, Technical followup and responsibility of the models developed by the external subcontractor System integration and verification, System delivery and acceptance Work as a technical expert in specific areas of the simulator Conduct code reviews and inspections. The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and experience Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or other related technical discipline Excellent knowledge and skills in software design and development in CC, Java Knowledge of one or more of the following data buses SpaceWire, MilSTD 1553 Knowledge of the ECSS software standards is desirable. Thorough understanding of software development lifecycles. Previous Experience Experience in development and testing preferably in the aerospace domain of software simulators or hardwareinthe loop test benches Experience in the complete software lifecycle requirements, design, development, integration, testing, delivery and acceptance Experience in technical follow upinterfacing to external subcontractors is highly desirable Excellent experience in software development using CC, Java, CORBA Experience in the development of functional models Working knowledge of Linux OS and ideally of the Eclipse SDE Working knowledge on Real Time software, would be advantageous.
