We have a strong presence at ESOC and EUMETSAT, as well as serving other ESA sites, the German Space Operations Centre and the German Galileo Control Centre. Moreover, we actively manage your professional development, training and career progression. For the location in Darmstadt, Germany we are looking for a Simulations Officer at ESOC. Tasks Simulations Officers are responsible for developing the training concept and the associated Simulation Plan to train the Mission Control Team, in order to prepare them for the launch or other critical phases of an ESA mission. This includes planning and developing failure cases of increasing difficulty to be introduced into the simulations, in order to train the Mission Control Team in nonnominal operations and application of mission rules. Simulations Officers are also planned to be involved with the operational training of other staff, including but not limited to Ground Operations Managers and ESTRACK Control Centre ECC operators. The Simulations Officer service requires familiarisation with both the space and ground segment. Simulations Officers are also involved with general training and simulation activities at ESOC. For a particular mission, the Prime Simulations Officer is responsible for the delivery of training to the Mission Control Team, supported by a Deputy Simulations Officer. Essential requirements The key personnel should meet the following essential and desirable requirements Good spacecraft knowledge on a subsystem level Experience in working in an operational environment Ability to understand and accurately predict behaviour of complex systems Be fluent in English, both in speech and writing Selfstarter, able to work independently with little or no supervision Proactive and confident personality with good persuasive skills Teamplayer, able to interface with technical and management personnel Wellorganised, able to prioritise and manage several tasks in parallel Familiarity with operational training Familiarity with operational simulators, ideally SimSat Familiarity with satellite control systems, ideally SCOS2000 Familiarity with programmingscripting languages e.g. C, Java, JavaScript Desirable requirements Security Clearance in view of later projects Experience in operational training Familiarity with the ESOC working environment and Quality Management System QMS Knowledge of operations Experience with prelaunch activities and launch campaigns Experience in instructional design methodologies Experience with prelaunch activities and launch campaigns Other Information Start date is as soon as possible. Fluency in English is mandatory. Candidates must be European Citizens Travel will be required typically oneweeklong missions to CNES, Toulouse every two to three weeks, over a period of approximately two months, depending on the start date.
