Smithfield Foods CEO to retire at years end

C. Larry Pope, long-time Smithfield Foods CEO, will retire from his top post by the end of the year, company officials confirmed Monday. Kenneth M. Sullivan, Smithfield's president and chief operating officer, will succeed Pope as CEO upon his Dec. 31 retirement, a company news release said.
